On Start The Week, Rod Liddle, in typical enfant terrible mood, condemns the West's "deranged" reaction to 9/11 by quoting that paragon of moderation, Malaysia's Mahathir Mohamad. That's the man who once declared, "Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them."
Expat crime novelist Sara Paretsky, clearly in the advanced stages of Bush Derangement Syndrome, was entertaining as well, if you know what I mean. I liked her assertion that America's gun-happy militias are somehow as big a threat to the homeland as Al-Qaeda.
Ah, well the rest of the programme - including the segment with Guantanamo detainee Moazzem Begg was interesting. I just wish the programme could make more of an effort at striking a political balance. Who was proudly trumpeted as a guest on next week's show? Parestsky's soul-mate, Barbara Ehrenreich?
