MUSIC BOX

Other items worth checking... Terry Teachout has a great time listening to pianist Roger Kellaway at the Jazz Standard... Dylan-watcher Right Wing Bob reconsiders the case of the Dixie Chicks: free speech martyrs or plain dumb? ... On An Overgrown Path listens to works inspired by the mystic St Julian of Norwich... Jerry Bowles assembles a handy pot pourri of music sites at blognoggle (Via Rifftides.) ... National Review runs a quixotic list of "the best conservative rock songs of all time". Won't Get Fooled Again comes top. (What would Pete Townshend say?) Stand By Your Man scrapes in at Number 50... Finally, blogger-composer Roger Bourland manages to enjoy a concert by the Queen of Schlock. Each to his own:

Madonna ripped off Rufus Wainwright’s stage prop of a cross for several numbers. Madonna’s was bigger, more hi-tech, and more expensive. The music was so loud I couldn’t tell whether anyone booed or not...The LA Times review commented on the return of the leotard. I guess that explains why this dude at the end of our row was wearing one.
