As I'm working my way through Blog! for a Washington Times review, I might as well carry on sharing some more of the choice lines.
The fact of the matter is that the market for writing talent in the United States is extremely inefficient, and there are mediocre people who end up getting jobs and there are talented people who don't. In fact, if you look at the way people get jobs in the New York media world, you see that a lot of it seems to be about who you know and how well you schmooze at parties. Weblogs are more meritocratic, in my opinion.
