Back to business today. Once again, Peter Feldhaus's photoblog captures the World Cup mood.
As for tomorrow's big match, is Sven Goran Eriksson a dud or a wonder-worker? Sam Wallace presents both sides of the argument, but I'd say this is the clincher:
The players don't trust him any more. Or at least, if you are managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Arsène Wenger or Rafael Benitez you know that Eriksson does not do enough. His attention to detail is hopeless, he often never knows, for example, who the match referee is going to be or much about the opposition. He is an aloof, marginal figure at training - again it may look mysterious and profound, but the players have grown tired of that.
Still, let's hear it for the fans. This wonderful pic from the Japan vs Croatia game comes courtesy of photoblogger Marinko Danic.
EXTRA TIME: The hosts beat Argentina on penalties. I don't think I've ever supported Germany before, but I desperately wanted them to win this time. Never mind that Argentina were technically the best team in the tournament; the way they responded to defeat, fists flying, told you all you needed to know.
I'm now suffering my way through the Italy vs Ukraine match. Painful.
