I made the mistake of ringing the police station last night to complain about the, er, plodding response to Friday's incident. Big mistake, as I only succeeded in losing my temper with the PC handling the case.
As I tried to explain to him, I've had this experience too many times. As have many of the people who live in this area. Yes, I can appreciate that the police are overloaded. But there has to be a better way of letting the public down (I wish I could think of a better way of putting it, but I can't). I'd be happy if they just tried not give the impression of going through the motions. So, if you take four and a half hours to arrive after a 999 call, it's really not a good idea to tell the victim of the crime that you've forgotten to bring a camera to take a picture of the damage. Little things like that.
