Don't have much time to blog this morning, and I'm not statistically minded anyway. Juan Cole believes the numbers make sense: "If 24 Iraqis can be shot down every day in Basra for a month (or for many months?) and no one notices, the Lancet results are perfectly plausible." Michael O'Hanlon thinks they're not: "The study is so far off they should not have published it. It is irresponsible." I'm waiting to hear what Iraq Body Count comes up with..
As for what the editor of The Lancet has been saying lately - at a Stop The War Coalition rally, no less - Harry's Place has the video evidence.
UPDATE Omar, of Iraq The Model, writes a heated response to the "Lancet lies". [Hat-tip: Tara]. Much as I respect him, though, he doesn't address the details beyond accusing the researchers of "resorting to mathematics".
