Perfect fare for armchair travellers... The Wall Street Journal's pick of the five best books on the subject of man versus nature. I almost bought a secondhand copy of The Worst Journey in the World last week. I'll have to go back and see if it's still on the shop's shelves.
Buy it without hesitation. Written in the early 20's, it is still the best travel/adventure book ever. More than that, it is an account of courage, endurance and morality that we in our time can only marvel at. A heroic story; the only downside to reading is the inevitable comparison to our own age of whining.
