Digital narcissism? So what? I don't think everyone who starts a blog owes the Internet-surfing public a quality product. Blogs are used for every conceivable purpose: if some are mainly as personal journals, fine. Let the reader choose and beware.

I can just imagine a 15th century Yasmin Alibhai-Brown bemoaning the invention of the printing press. All those people sitting around the house reading when they could have been outdoors getting some exercise. And all those damn pamphleteers spreading their hideous little views. If only we could return to a world before the printed word.
